Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you service?

We service anywhere within a 1-hour drive of Downtown Oswego

What training methods do you use?

All training with Marvelous K9 begins with positive reinforcement, as this is the best method for achieving an enthusiastic, well trained dog. Once dogs have a clear understanding of the training, we will introduce the other three quadrants of operant conditions (positive punishment, negative punishment, and negative reinforcement). A balance between all four of these methods will creative the happiest and most clear-headed dog.

What kind of dogs do you train?

All breeds, sizes, and training needs are welcome!

Do you offer boarding?

Yes, boarding is available exclusively to current and past clients.

Do you provide a guarantee?

In short, no. While we do promise to help your dog reach their highest potential while we work with them, training is a lifelong commitment, and your dog can only uphold what you stick to. We try to offer as much support as we can once your dog has completed their training with us, but how well that training sticks is completely up to the owners after our job is done.

Do you provide refunds?

All payments made to Marvelous K9 are final unless otherwise stated or discussed.

Can you train my aggressive dog?

We specialize in behavior modification for dogs who struggle with various forms of aggression, whether it’s directed at people or other dogs. That said, dogs who display this behavior are only accepted into our 6-8 week board and train program, and will not be permitted into any shorter programs or private lessons. Aggression in dogs is not something that we take lightly, and we like to set all dogs up for success. When filling out the contact form and during our evaluation, please be as transparent and honest as possible about your dog’s behavior, including any bite attempts or incidents.

What should I send my dog to a board & train with?

All your dog needs when they come to stay with us is enough food to last their stay, their regular leash and collar/harness, and a prong or e-collar if you’re already using one on them. If the training collar you’re currently using is the incorrect size or a brand that we don’t recommend, those new tools will come included with the board & train. You may also send your dog with a blanket/bed and a bone or toy they can have in their crate. The only things we ask that you keep at home are squeaky toys and rawhides.

Will I get updates on my dog?

Yes! Training updates are sent out every Tuesday via email. Owners can also follow our Facebook page and Instagram for a chance to see what their dogs are up to during their stay.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We understand that quality dog training is not a cheap investment, which is why we offer flexible payment plans for our programs.
